Even before it’s release, ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’ is making a buzz in and outside the industry. The director of the film, Roshan Abbas, is excited about the film and more so because he has new Aishwarya in his film. No, no, it’s not Aishwarya Rai Bachchan but it’s a discovery of Abbas. Its ‘Love Aaj Kal’ fame Brazilian beauty Giselli Monteiro who plays the character named Aishwarya in the director’s maiden venture.
Giselli Monteiro played Harleen Kaur in ‘Love Aaj Kal’, where she was the love interest of young Rishi Kapoor. She is now a part of ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’. But doesn’t limited knowledge of Hindi hamper her ability to act? “No, no … of course not,” says she.
Why did Abbas go for this Brazilian beauty and not any Indian face? “When I was looking for Aishwarya I wanted a face which made you say wish she was my love. Giselli has that quality. When we saw her at the auditions, this quality of hers came out in dollops. With her innocence and charm, she will make you fall in love with her,” said Abbas.
Her Hindi might not be perfect, but she is definitely a hard worker. Abbas revealed, “It was a problem. She said if you change the lines I don’t know what I will do. Don’t change the lines and give me the script in advance. She had practiced her Hindi a lot. She trained under a teacher to get the dialogues perfectly.”
Pretty confident about the success of the film, Roshan reveals about the film, “The movie based on the play Graffiti directed by Abbas is about four unique lives trying to compete with the pressures of growing up and the firsts that we all experience in school. The youthful music and the freshness of the film is surely its USP. I had done quite a few shows with Shah Rukh (Khan) and while doing the shows, I suggested that the play be turned into a movie. He agreed. I have cast fresh faces because I wanted to make stars than getting stars to act in my movie.”
Why does the title ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’? He said, “Today’s teens think many things at one time. They always want to do them but only kabhi kabhi (sometimes) do them. They are always in love but kabhi kabhi they fight. The essence of the title and the movie is ‘kabhi kabhi jo dil kahe always wahi karein’ (always do what the heart says sometimes).”
Recently the entire cast of the film including Zoa Morani, Ali Fazal, Satyajeet Dubey along with Monteiro and Abbas were in the city to promote the movie and they had a rocking time playing the interactive game of sketch charade with the audience.
